Marina Bay’s Best Running + Biking Trails
The Marina Bay community is a true haven for active types who enjoy easy access to several well-maintained trails. Whether your idea of an invigorating afternoon outdoors involves a casual stroll, a bike ride with friends, or a longer jog, you’ll find plenty of trails within the Marina Bay area that meet your needs. The next time you’re itching to hit the trail, be sure to give one of these hot spots a try.
Squantum Point Park
If you’re in the mood for a quick excursion, hit up the two-mile paved trail at Squantum Point Park, often referred to as the Quincy RiverWalk. It’s perfect for everything from biking to inline skating, or even bird watching. Sqauntum’s salt water marsh attracts a variety of bird species, so the park is a popular destination among active bird watchers.
Billings Creek Trail
The next time you cross the Quincy RiverWalk through Squantum Point Park, take the road less traveled and try the Billings Creek Trail. This short offshoot spans just 2/3 of a mile offering more of your favorite trail.
Secret Squantum Park
One of the Squantum area’s best-kept secrets, this small but charming park boasts stunning skyline views and peaceful wooded trails. However, accessing it can be a bit difficult, as it is known by three separate names: Nickerson Beach, Squaw Point Park, and Secret Squantum Park.
Quincy Shore Drive
A popular jogging path, Quincy Shore Drive links runners and bikers to Moswetuset Hummock, a National Historic Site. The short loop provides lovely views of both Squantum Marsh and Quincy Bay.
Lower Neponset River Trail
If you’re willing to venture a bit further from your usual Marina Bay jogging and biking paths, you’ll eventually encounter the Lower Neponset River Trail. Stretching from Dorchester’s historic Port Norfolk neighborhood to Milton’s Central Avenue, the 2.4-mile trail links the Neponset area with a variety of other trails. You can find parking at Pope John Paul II Park for easy access!
Neponset River Greenway
The Neponset River Greenway currently consists of several disconnected paths spanning nearly eight miles, but eventually, it will be a full-blown trail linked from end to end. For the time being, all of the trail’s various paths remain very easy to access and It’s a great option for whenever you’re feeling ambitious.
Whichever trail or path you choose be sure to stop and take in your surroundings and enjoy all that Marina Bay and Quincy have to offer.
