Boston Winter Activities
The holiday season might be over, but winter is just beginning! While it might be cold this time of year, that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside and hibernate. From exploring one of Boston’s beautiful museums to ice skating, there are still plenty of winter activities to do! Here are some ideas to help you enjoy your winter season:
• See a show in Boston’s theater district
Boston has a large variety of theaters where you can easily find a show of your interest! Catch your favorite broadway show at the Boston Opera House or enjoy a varitey of performers at the Wang Theater or the Shubert theater. Looking to laugh away those winter blues? Attend a comedy show at the Wilbur Theatre! Other theaters include, the Paramount and the Charles Playhouse. No matter which one you choose, you’ll be sure to find some great entertainment this winter!
• Check out one of Boston’s many museums
Did you know that Boston has over 60 museums? Finding a museum that appeals to your interests is super easy! Expand your knowledge of science at the Museum of Science or explore art from all over the world at the Musuem of Fine Arts. One of Boston’s most popular attractions is the New England Aquarium. With over 1 million visitors every year, the New England Aquarium provides countless exhibits of beautiful ocean life, an IMAX theater and opportunities to go behind the scenes and interact with the animals. Beat the cold this year and visit these attractions!
• Cheer on your favorite sports team!
It may be cold outside, but the action heats up in the arena when the Boston Bruins and Celtics play! Take the T right into North Station and go directly into TD Garden to watch your favorite teams compete. The best part? You don’t even have to go outside! There are games almost every day during the winter so if you’re a sports fan, you’re in luck! Check out TD Garden’s event schedule here.
• Go ice skating!
Ice skating is one of the most classic winter activities and Boston has plenty of places to do it! Head to the Boston Common Frog Pond for traditional outdoor skating or head inside to the Steriti Rink for indoor skating with a beautiful harbor view. No matter which rink you go to, be sure to show off your skating skills!
